He’s facing the biggest battle of his life, but actor Jeff Bridges has found comfort in man’s best friend. The Oscar-winning actor took to social media to show off his newly shaved head alongside his new pet pooch. “Feeling good,” Jeff wrote. “Shaved my head. Got a puppy, Monty. Had a Birthday – 71, man.”

He's shaved his head in preparation for chemotherapy treatment.

In October, Jeff announced he’d been diagnosed with lymphoma. In a tweet he channelled his now iconic character, the laidback, dagga-smoking Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski  from 1998’s The Big Lebowski, writing, “As the Dude would say, new s**t has come to light. I’ve been diagnosed with lymphoma.”

Despite his cancer battle, Jeff wasn’t too busy to update his personal website with a note supporting struggling musicians. “Music – we need it, man & all our musicians are having a hell of a time making a living these days w/ the COVID deal – No venues can’t play anywhere,” he wrote.

Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which includes the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland and bone marrow. While he has not revealed what kind of lymphoma he has, Jeff will not have to fight his battle alone.

The actor’s revelation sparked an outpouring of support from his Hollywood peers with stars such as Steve Martin, Julianne Moore, Patricia Arquette, Andy Garcia, Rosanna Arquette, Rosie Perez and Elle Fanning – all letting him know they’re rooting for him. “You’re a fighter, you can beat this,” Star Wars actor George Takei (83) tweeted.

“You have such a joyful spirit that I know you’ll overcome this temporary blip,” singer Barbra Streisand chipped in.

Jeff also has the love and support of his wife of 43 years, Susan Geston, and their three daughters, Isabelle (39), Jessica (37) and Haley (35).

And Monty, of course.
