Her toned arms became her signature during her years as first lady and inspired a generation of women to hit the gym in pursuit of “Michelle Obama arms”.

But as she approaches the end of her sixth decade, the 58-year-old powerhouse has given up trying to maintain those chiselled limbs.

“I find that I can’t push myself as hard as I used to,” Michelle admits. “When I tear a muscle or pull something, then I’m out. The recovery time isn’t the same. I’m still physically active but my goal now, instead of having ‘Michelle Obama arms’, is I just want to keep moving.”
