The fans have spoken and Sean Connery has been voted the best James Bond of all time.

The Hollywood veteran, who will celebrate his 90th birthday later this month, portrayed the iconic secret service agent character for it’s first six installments, The Sun reports.

And even though it’s been decades since he last donned the sleek black suit to chase down the bad guys, Sean is still stealing hearts to this day.

In a poll by Radio Times, created ahead of Daniel Craig’s final 007 movie No Time To Die, fans voted for their favourite James Bond actor.

Sean, Pierce Brosnan and the late Sir Roger Moore were some of the names thrown in the hat.

With more than 14 000 votes to his name, Sean snatched the number one spot. He took the lead with 56% of the votes while Daniel roped in an impressive 43%.

In a second round of voting, Pierce received 72% of the votes while George Lazenby (80), also a Bond of old, scrapped in 24%

In round three, the Roger managed 41% while his successor Timothy Dalton (74) received 49%, GQ reports.

“Sean Connery has once again proven he’s the Bond with the Midas touch,” Tim Glanfield, editorial director of Radio Times, says.

After filming The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in 2003, Sean retired from acting. He currently stays in the Bahamas, The Telegraph writes.

Sean has been married twice. He first tied the knot with late ex-wife Diane Cilento. The couple share son Jason Connery (51).

He is now still married to Micheline Roquebrune (91) after their wedding in 1975, DailyMail reports.

Sean’s first 007 character was in the 1962 film Dr. No.

He then went on to star in From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever.

He finally bowed out of the Bond franchise after Never Say Never Again in 1983.

Here’s a look at Sean’s top three James Bond moments throughout the years:
