Former cyclist Lance Armstrong has finally said "I do" to girlfriend Anna Hansen after 14 years together.

After tying the knot in an intimate ceremony at a chateau in France, a clearly ecstatic Lance (50) shared photos from the special occasion on Instagram, gushing, “Best. Day. Ever. Married the love of my life @annahansenarmstrong.”

He and the yoga instructor have been engaged since 2017 and have two kids, Olivia Marie (11) and Max (13).

Lance – who was stripped of all seven of his Tour de France titles in 2012 and banned from cycling for life after being found guilty of doping – also has three children, Luke (22) and twin daughters Grace and Isabelle (20), with ex-wife Kristin Richard.

The kids served as their bridesmaids and groomsmen, which prompted Lance to write, “So special having our kids there as well. It was an evening full of laughter and plenty of joyful tears.”

For Lance, a survivor of testicular cancer, it was a dream come true. “It was an evening full of laughter and plenty of joyful tears,” he continued. “Anna, you have been my absolute rock the past 14 years and let me be clear, I would not have survived them without you.”

He acknowledged the “hard work” that went into ensuring their relationship endures.

“I am so proud of the couple we have become – it took us doing the work, the really hard work, and I am so glad that we did. I love you immensely and will always be here for you and our family.”

Anna, who is also the founder of Move with Anna, a virtual yoga programme, shared a peek at the post-wedding festivities on her Instagram Stories. One photo included a cup of cappuccino with foam that read: “Anna & Lance”. In her posting she described it as the “perfect elopement”.

Lance, who started a podcast called The Move which provided daily coverage of the Tour de France in 2018 and 2019 and who has appeared on NBC Sports' live Tour de France television broadcasts in recent years, announced their engagement in 2017.

“She said..... YES!!!!” he captioned a photo of them at Lake Austin in the US.

The former athlete, who now works as a life coach, has been linked to several famous women in the past.

He got engaged to singer Sheryl Crow in 2005 after a two-year romance. However six months later they split. Shortly after this, the singer was diagnosed with breast cancer.

He went on to date fashion designer Tory Burch, actress Kate Hudson and former Full House child star Ashley Olsen in 2007.
