Just three months after Shakira and Gerard Piqué announced their split, the Spanish professional footballer has been spotted in public with his new girlfriend.
In a video taken by Spanish media outlet Socialite, 35-year-old Gerard is seen kissing his 23-year-old girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, at the Summerfest Cerdanya festival in Catalonia, Spain, over the weekend.
Shakira (45), who faces imprisonment if convicted of tax fraud in Spain, is said to be fuming with Gerard.
“She is very angry at seeing the father of her children with his girlfriend in public,” a source close to Shakira’s family says. Especially because the two had an agreement that they would not appear in public with their partners during the first year after the breakup.
Clara, who is a PR student, works for Gerard’s sports and media investment group Kosmos, where they reportedly met while working together.
The pair have been dating for months but have been keeping their relationship hush hush. “I am excited," presenter Laura Roige says. "It is evident that there's a relationship. I have seen a lot of love. It will hurt Shakira a lot, because this is a Gerard Piqué we have never seen. I have never seen him like this with the singer.”

After 12 years together Shakira and Gerard announced their split in June this year. “We regret to confirm that we are parting ways. For the wellbeing of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. Thank you for your understanding,” their joint statement read.
The power couple first met in 2010 right here in South Africa.
Shakira was filming her Waka Waka music video, which featured a number of footballers including Gerard. The blue-eyed footballer caught her eye and he was equally smitten. “It all started when we were together in South Africa and I wrote to her,” Gerard said at the time.
It was not long before they started seeing each other and they confirmed their relationship in 2011. The singer even brought Gerard out on stage during one of her concerts and gave him a dance lesson, which ended with a quick kiss and hug for all to see.
“I was not feeling the love like it was supposed to be. I started to think that there was no God. And suddenly I meet Gerard and the sun comes out,” Shakira said in an interview with Elle.
In 2013 the two welcomed their first child, son Milan Piqué Mebarak (9), together and two years later completed their family after welcoming another boy, Sasha Piqué Mebarak (7).
Shakira and Gerard never married because they did not feel the need. “I like it how we are right now. We have two kids; we work good as a couple. We don’t have the need to be married. It’s fine,” Gerard said.
But then rumours of them living in separate homes started swirling in 2017. It was the same year the Columbian singer went through depression after suffering a haemorrhage in her right vocal cord.
Shakira however seemed to have put those rumours to rest in 2019 when she opened up about how Gerard supported her when she was at her most vulnerable. “Gerard saw me at my worst. He jokes that you would think you would want your wife to shut up — but when I had to remain quiet, he felt like one of those ex-convicts who are given their freedom and don't know what to do with it,” she says.
And the two seemed to have been doing ok, posting a selfie together in January this year, celebrating the New Year. A month later Shakira got candid about the one reason the two of them butt heads: punctuality.
“I’ve become a lot more punctual since I met him. [But] the times that we actually fight is because I'm late and he's waiting up,” she said in a recent podcast.
Then after a Spanish outlet reported on Gerard’s infidelity months later, the couple announced their split after 12 years together. They're now focused on reaching a custody agreement over their kids.
