Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the latest celebrity to reveal his diagnosis – and he admits that having the disease was “one of the most challenging things” he’s ever had to endure.

The superstar opened up about contracting the virus in a new video on Instagram and said it was “a real kick in the gut.”

“I wanted to give you guys a little helpful update on some of the things that I've been going through on my end for the past two-and-a-half to three weeks now,” he said in the video.

"So the update is this. My wife Lauren, as well as my two baby girls and myself, we have all tested positive for Covid-19 and I can tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family and for me personally, too, as well.

"And I've gone through some doozies in the past. I've gotten knocked about and had my ass kicked in the past with some challenges, but testing positive for Covid-19  is much different than overcoming nasty injuries or being evicted or even being broke, which I have been more than a few times.”

He added that he wished it was only him who had tested positive but that they have come out on the other end stronger.

“We're on the other side. We are no longer contagious, and we are, thank God, we are healthy,” he said.

"We've got through Covid-19 stronger and healthier."

Filming of the latest installment in the Batman franchise has been paused after it was confirmed that Robert Pattinson has tested positive for Covid-19.

The actor is reported to have caught the bug after shooting for the film resumed near London, after a six-month delay to filming. Robert has yet to comment on the reports.

Meanwhile, Brazilian soccer star Neymar and his Paris Saint-Germain team-mates Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes, have also tested positive for the virus.

Neymar and Leandro had been holidaying on the Spanish island of Ibiza and their diagnosis has plunged their French soccer club into crisis eight days before their first game of the season.

The news has resulted in the team extending their rest period following their Champions League final.

Here are some other celebs who have tested positive:

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Earlier this year, beloved actor Tom shared on Twitter that he and his wife Rita had contracted the virus in Australia while he was preparing to shoot Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic.

After the onset of “cold and flu” symptoms, the couple tested positive for Covid-19 and spent two weeks in quarantine before returning to Los Angeles.

The couple have since donated blood and plasma toward vaccine efforts.

Idris Elba

The British actor and musician announced on Twitter that he had tested positive for coronavirus.

Even though he wasn’t showing any symptoms, the star went for testing after discovering he was exposed to someone who had been diagnosed with the virus.

In the video, he urged fans and viewers to take up global solidarity, social distancing and to sanitise to combat the spread of the virus.

Andy Cohen

The American TV talkshow host took to his Instagram to share the news that he’d tested positive for Covid-19.

In his post, he commended essential workers for their impeccable job.

The singer discussed her diagnosis earlier this year in a post on her Instagram. She visited her doctor after she and her three-year-old son, Jameson, started experiencing symptoms.

After a two-week quarantine, she tested negative.

“This illness is serious and real,” she wrote. “People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities.”

Usain Bolt

The Olympic gold medallist was diagnosed with Covid-19 last month. The news was confirmed by Jamaica’s Minister of Health days later.

Before learning his fate, the fastest man in the world took to social media to reveal he was quarantining as a precaution.

The megastar announced earlier this year that she had tested positive but never revealed whether she experienced symptoms or not.

She later revealed that she was sick during the French leg of her Madame X tour earlier this year.

“When you test positive for anti-bodies it means you HAD the virus which I clearly did as I was sick at the end of my tour in Paris over seven weeks ago along with many other artists in my show but at the time,” she wrote on Instagram.
