Rachel Uchitel, Tiger Woods’ former mistress, is once again spilling the tea on her side of the scandal that ended the golfer’s marriage and nearly ended his career.

“Tiger gets to win awards . . . He gets to come out of things and have mishaps, and get up again, and people want to cheer for him. But the women don't get that so much, not just with him but with any scandal, and that's not really fair. And I just felt like I needed to be able to have a voice finally,” Rachel said ahead of the upcoming HBO documentary, Tiger, which “will explore the rise, fall and redemption of global icon Tiger Woods”.

Tiger and Rachel’s illicit tryst was revealed in 2009 by the National Enquirer and soon after dozens of other women came forward also claiming to have had affairs with the golfer.

At the time, he was married to Elin Nordegren. Tiger and Elin, who have since divorced, have two children, Sam (13) and Charlie (11).

Speaking to Heather McDonald on the podcast Juicy Scoop, Rachel said she met the champion golfer when she was dating her former partner, ex-pro baseball player Derek Jeter.

“Tiger was sleeping over at Derek's house. And we just became friendly. So that's how I originally met him in Manhattan,” she said. She added that she later met him again at nightclubs, before they started their affair.

Rachel said she had agreed to be in the documentary because she’s spent the past 11 years “stuck under that cloud and under that branding, and I haven't had a chance to get out of that”.

“After all this stuff that had come out about the scandal, I felt that at some point I needed to remove the shackles of what that is like to not have a voice. I needed to have a voice of what it's been like for me because I don't think people really get that because people just like to throw names around.”

Rachel, who is now a married and owns a children’s boutique, previously spoke out about her life and the affair in the series Scandal Made Me Famous, in 2017.

“People remember me in so many different ways based on whatever article they’ve read,” she said in that series.

“Whether they’ve seen me on Celebrity Rehab or in the newspaper, people shape me in so many different ways. I’m just a girl from Anchorage, Alaska, who grew up in New York City, who fell in love a couple of times and had some tragic things happen.”

Rachel was in the news earlier this year when she and her ex-husband, Matt Hahn, were in a custody battle over their seven-year-old daughter, Wyatt, which they have since resolved. She married, then divorced Hahn a few years after the Tiger affair.

Tiger has been in a relationship with Erica Herman since 2017, and Tiger’s son and daughter split their time between their parents’ homes.

Tiger is set for a December release.
