Cape Town - Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have been left reeling after their beloved dog Waldo Picasso died in a horrific hit-and-run accident.

According to TMZ, the newlyweds won’t be able to take legal action against the motorist who drove off, which isn’t a crime, after fatally striking their Alaskan Klee Kai dog.

The pair may, however, seek justice in a civil court.

Waldo Picasso, which the couple got in 2018, was being walked by a dog walker on a leash in New York when he got loose.

The dog was reportedly frightened by a pedestrian and ran into the road, People reports.

Following the mortifying loss of their pooch the upset couple have consulted a therapist, Cosmopolitan revealed.

On social media, their fans took to the comment section to pay their respects.

"My heart aches for you," one person wrote on Instagram.

"We also had a Klee Kai in NYC and the very same thing happened to us," another person said.
