Kanye West has revealed that he stopped Kim Kardashian having an abortion when she was pregnant with their daughter North.
A sobbing Kanye made the surprise disclosure during his first presidential campaign rally in South Carolina over the weekend, The Sun reports.
The 43-year-old rapper broke down when the topic of abortion was raised while he addressed a rally at the Exquis Event Centre in Charleston.
“My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West without my mom,” Kanye said.
The fashion mogul became tearful as he
recalled how he and Kim, who was his girlfriend at the time, debated whether or
not to go through with their first pregnancy with North in 2013, US Weekly reports.
“She had the pills in her hand,” he said.
“My girlfriend called me screaming, crying. I'm a rapper. And she said I'm pregnant. She was crying.”
“I almost killed my daughter,” the rapper said tearfully.
He continued that, even if the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star divorces him after his speech, “she brought North into the world even when I didn’t want to. She stood up and she protected that child”.
The couple, who married in 2014, also share sons Saint (4) and Psalm (1) and daughter Chicago (2).
According to the Daily Mail, Kanye also said he wishes to meet
with billionaire philanthropist George Soros to discuss building houses and
Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg to talk about improving internet connectivity in
Africa.
The rapper who is known for his shocking outbursts, also claimed that 19th century political activist Harriet Tubman didn’t free slaves, but “just had the slaves go work for other white people”.
