Cape Town - Kim Kardashian has opened up about her husband’s shocking statement about slavery.
During an Interview with TMZ in May, the American rapper shockingly said that slavery in America had been “a choice”.
“You hear about slavery for 400 years. 400 years? That sounds like a choice,” Kanye said. “400 years and it’s all of y’all?”
The 40-year-old’s remarks caused a huge backlash from A-list celebrities and now Kim (37) has revealed that her husband’s comments frustrated her, even though he had the “best intentions”, Entertainment Online reports.
“I cried because it’s a lot of what we went through,” Kim said.
“I know my husband has the best intentions. He has the biggest heart. I know his heart, so I know he’ll always have that chance to explain himself when the time is right.
“This time I wasn’t so calm . . . I know what he meant so ultimately, after a week, I was calm. I think he explained it well in the song,” she said, referring to Kanye’s song Wouldn’t Leave from his new album, Ye.
“My wife callin’, screamin’, say, ‘We ’bout to lose it all!’/ Had to calm her down ’cause she couldn’t breathe/ Told her she could leave me now, but she wouldn’t leave . . .”
A close source told People, that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, who recently won the first influencer award at the 2018 Council of Fashion Designers of America’s awards ceremony, always tries to support her husband, even when he’s controversial.
“Does Kim agree with everything Kanye does and says? No, absolutely not,” the source said.
“But does she stand by him? Always. They always have each other’s backs and will always go to bat for one another.”
