Cape Town - When Rochester Police Department in New Hampshire, USA, sent out the image of a wanted man they didn’t expect the barrage of responses they’d later receive.
Posting on Facebook, Rochester Police asked the public to help them find the man, who was wanted in connection with a criminal trespassing case.
The suspect was filmed on 21 September. The police post started going viral on 27 September.
Members of the public couldn’t help but use rapper Eminem-themed lyrics to describe the incident either, given the suspect is wanted for trespassing.
One witty commenter said: "He’s probably just going ’round the outside, ’round the outside" – the lyrics to Eminem's hit, Without Me.
Another was less subtle with their pun, writing: "Stop the tape! This kid needs to be locked away!", a lyric from My Name Is.
Given the comments they received Rochester Police Department then felt the need to issue an update on the comparisons with the famous rapper.
The updated Facebook post said: "The subject has been identified, and we can confirm it is NOT Marshall Mathers."
