A 44-year-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of dangerous weapons outside St James’s Palace in London.
The palace is the home of Princess Anne and Princess Beatrice, and forms part of a massive building complex that also includes Clarence House, where Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, reside.
The man, who’s been identified as Andrew Marshall, is believed to have mental health issues after he was found on foot late at night near his car parked in the palace grounds.
The vehicle contained latex gloves, a crossbow with 14 bolts and a large knife, The Sun reports.
The weapons were discovered after police used a set of keys they found in his possession to unlock the car, according to Express UK.
Andrew has since been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon in a public place and although he hasn’t entered a plea he received bail on condition that he remain in hospital custody.
Although Charles was reportedly shocked by the incident, it’s unclear whether he or Camilla were at home when it occurred.
This arrest comes after an intruder climbed a fence and broke into Buckingham Palace late last year while Queen Elizabeth slept.
