The Welsh actor talks about his new role and finding love on set
SKILLED SLEUTH Based on detective fiction written in the 1930s, the new series Perry Mason stars Matthew in the title role as a private investigator who becomes a defence attorney.
It’s not the first TV adaptation and is darker than the popular ’50s courtroom drama. In this one Mason doesn’t always do things by the book and tries to juggle his messy private life with cases that are out of the ordinary. “One of the things I loved about this script is that I think we find a very lost Perry Mason,” says Matthew (45). “He makes a good private investigator because he doesn’t fit in anyway.”
