These may just be perfect new additions to your watch list.

CAPONE

Biopic.

Tom Hardy is known for his seemingly effortless ability to transform for each role. Playing Al Capone, he morphs into a decrepit figure with bloodshot eyes and a corpse-like pallor.

The movie, written and directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle), is based on true events and depicts the notorious American mobster in the last year of his life, chomping on carrots instead of cigars and near-death as syphilis and dementia take its toll. He’s a husk of the imposing underworld presence he once was.

As impressive as his transformation is, Hardy’s performance fails to evoke anything more than repugnance.

His staggering and grunting dominate screen time, leaving little room for character development for Capone, or anyone else. Linda Cardellini (Green Book), who plays his long-suffering wife, is one of the few highlights. Rather skip this one – especially if you’re a Hardy fan.

SNOWPIERCER SEASON 1

Daveed Diggs (Blindspotting) stars as Andre in this post-apocalyptic drama based on the 2013 film by Parasite director Bong Joon-ho and the French graphic novel which inspired that adaptation.

Set in a future where an attempt to re-engineer the world’s climate has failed and brought on a new ice age, the last humans in the world live on a train that constantly circles the globe.

Andre is an aspiring revolutionary leading a growing uprising in the back cars of the train that house the poor, and he also happens to be the last homicide detective in the world.

This leads to him being summoned through the train’s many carriages to investigate a murder in this offbeat, timely and compelling series. Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) co-star.

GYPSY SEASON 1

The life of married therapist Jean Holloway (Naomi Watts) spirals out of control when she becomes involved with a young barista (Sophie Cookson from Kingsman: The Secret Service), who has a connection to one of her patients.

The role of Jean was created for Watts but she’s miscast. Jean is supposed to be an intriguing, complicated woman whose hidden layers are slowly revealed, but Watts’ portrayal quickly gets boring after the first steamy sex scene.

Jean has no filter, and it’s like watching an accident in slow motion – you know she’s going to wreck her life and you’re frustrated by her stupid decisions.

If you stick with it until the bitter end, you’ll be rewarded with a twist of what was really going on the whole time, but it’s debatable if it’s worth sitting through 10 episodes for the ending.
