These movies are perfect for the weekend!
DEEP BLUE SEA 3
Sci-fi action. Welcome to Little Happy, a tiny man-made Mozambican island that’s home to vibrant marine life. Every few years, great white sharks come to its waters to breed.
American biologist Dr Emma Collins (Lost’s Tania Raymonde) and her team are spending their third summer on the island to study the effects of climate change on the sharks.
Their research is disturbed when a team of “scientists”, led by Emma’s former colleague and ex-boyfriend, Richard (Nathaniel Buzolic from The Originals), arrive in search of three Zambezi sharks.
This third film in the franchise is a direct sequel to the second instalment, and apart from its underwater predators, has nothing to do with the plot or characters of the first film.
Like its predecessors there’s plenty of action and lots of gore, plus a strong heroine.
It’s essentially a cautionary tale about the dangers of climate change and genetic manipulation, but the plot is quite forgettable.
This one’s only for fans who can’t get enough of killer shark movies such as The Shallows (2016), 47 Meters Down (2017) and The Meg (2018).

Action. Thor star Chris Hemsworth trades his hammer for an assortment of guns, knives and, yes, an actual rake to play traumatised mercenary Tyler Rake.
He wreaks havoc in Bangladesh to rescue Ovi Mahajan (Rudhraksh Jaiswal), the kidnapped teenage son of an imprisoned mobster.
The action (and the clichés) are fast and furious, but it’s slickly choreographed and cleanly shot.
For action fans there’s a lot to enjoy, but the movie misses a trick by not taking better advantage of Hemsworth’s charm and humorous streak.
