American teenager Gitanjali Rao has just been named Time magazine’s kid of the year.

Gitanjali (15) is a young scientist and inventor and has come up with various new technologies in her young life.

Her inventions include a device that detects lead in drinking water (lead is toxic if ingested), as well as an app called Kindly that uses artificial intelligence (see box) to spot when someone’s potentially being bullied online.
