A newlywed is devastated after finding her husband dead in their hotel suite.

Danny Emsley (37), a window cleaner from West Yorkshire in England, and his bride Clare (35) thought their wedding day would be the happiest day of their lives.

But 12 hours later Clare found her husband lying dead in their hotel room, The Mirror reports.

The couple got married at the Woodhall Spa near West York with 80 guests. Their family and friends witnessed as the pair exchanged their vows on 17 August.

They’d been in a relationship for seven years and Danny had a son from a previous relationship. Friends of the late groom described him as “fit and healthy” lad, who regularly played football, The Sun reports.

Clare wrote a heartbreaking message on Facebook saying, “Friday was the best day of my life, I got to marry the best, most bluntly honest, funniest, kindest and most loving man I've ever met.

“We had a perfect day full of family, friends, love, and laughter, we couldn't have asked for a better day.

“The magic ran out at the end of the night and my beautiful Danny was cruelly ripped from my life.

“There’s a hole in my heart that can never be filled. I just don't know how I'll ever cope without you, my fabulous husband.”

“Danny went to bed just before 11.30pm. Clare went to check on him an hour or so later,” a friend told the publication. "He was fine so she went back to the party until around 1.30am.”

Later that night Clare went back to the hotel room with her mom who helped her out of her dress. As she was preparing for bed she noticed something was wrong.

“She screamed and ran out of the room calling for help,” Clare’s mom said.

“The door closed behind her leaving her locked out.”

By the time they opened the door and called the ambulance, it had already been too late.

His aunt Gail Emsley wrote online, “our nephew passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning a few hours after his wedding.”
