When Beau Brown booked a seat near the exit for his flight home, he thought he was safe.

He just forgot one detail … his height.

The Atlanta-based cinematographer stands at a towering 2,16m and struggles to fit into conventional airplane seats, showers, cars and even corridors.

On his popular Tik Tok page, where he has over a million followers, Beau looks ginormous as he appears miles away from the bathroom sink, his head scrapes against the ceiling in lifts and he has to bend his knees just to look in the mirror.

He made headlines last month when he was kicked off his Georgia-bound plane because he couldn’t fit into the exit seat. On board the plane, “my knees touched the seats in front of me, and I was pinned in, unable to sit down or get up,” he explained.

To make up for the inconvenience, the airline upgraded him to a first class seat because he didn’t fit into the economy seats.

In a video posted after the incident, Beau can be seen hunched over while walking to his seat which he barely fits into when he’s finally seated.

“Travelling is always a huge struggle for me and flying can be seriously uncomfortable,” says Beau.

Being so tall has made life a little pricier for Beau who has clothes specially made to fit him. He wears size 18 shoes.

“At times it’s frustrating when I end up spending excessive amounts on regular everyday items.”

The 29-year-old says he’s accustomed to strangers approaching him in public with questions or asking for photos. “I love standing out from the crowd and owning my appearance,” he said.

His internet fame has helped him earn more and afford a more comfortable apartment.

“Before I could afford my own place, renting was a nightmare, as I’d be constantly ducking all the time because of the low ceilings,” he said.

He now lives in a custom-built flat with 3,6m high ceilings and taller thresholds so he can finally “fully relax at home in a comfortable environment”.

With his newfound following he hopes to earn the top spot as social media’s go-to tall guy. “My dream is to have a travel show that shows the complications of being 7 feet tall around the world — that would be awesome.”

Although he stands out in the crowd, he’s just a regular guy at home and has equally tall family members who understand the struggles that come with his height.

His wife Sara, who he married last year, measures in at a lofty 1,85m.
