The woman sitting across the table seems edgy. She lights a cigarette, takes a quick drag, then begins to recount the events of the day in October last year when one of her neighbours, a prominent local hotelier and businessman, was found dead in his indoor swimming pool in Pofadder, Northern Cape.
Leon Brits (41) was stabbed in the chest and strangled with a dog’s lead before his body was thrown into the pool.
Then a few weeks ago came another shock: the police slapped handcuffs on Leon’s pretty brunette wife of 11 years, Suretha (30). She’s now charged with having masterminded the murder.
