She thought her life was over when she suffered a stroke in matric. Letlhogonolo Modise was thrilled to close the chapter on high school and couldn’t wait to start her studies at university. But when she suffered a stroke a few months into the school year, her life was turned upside down.
Letlhogonolo was left paralysed, unable to speak and partially blind when she suffered a stroke at age 17.
“I had already told myself I am going to go to university and get a degree,” she says. “When those plans were shattered through a stroke, I had to restructure my mind and rethink my life because it wasn’t going to be the same again.”
