For weeks before the crucial moment his party would decide if he or his opponent would lead the Democratic Alliance, John Steenhuisen was getting about four hours sleep a night.  

And a few days after he decisively beat Federal Youth Leader Mbali Ntuli for the top job with 80% of 2?000 delegates voting for him, there’s still no time to rest.   

“I haven’t slept properly since two weeks ago,” John (44) says via a video call.
