The family had big dreams for the little boy, hoping he’d one day become a doctor so he could care for them. He was bright, cheerful and polite, and the apple of his grandparents’ eye.

But now Keketso Innocent Saule is gone, yet another statistic of a spate of horrific pit bull attacks making grim headlines day after day after day.

Two pit bulls attacked the little boy near his home in Phomolong in the town of Hennenman in the Free State, mauling him so savagely his brain was exposed.
