A mother has been reunited with her new-born daughter after a woman pretending to be a nurse took the baby from her mother’s arms under false pretences.

The mother, who hasn’t been named, gave birth at Hospital César Leite in the municipality of Manhuaçu in Brazil.

The alleged kidnapper, a 26-year-old woman, apparently gained access to the hospital as a patient when she complained of abdominal pains. After a consultation, the woman was taken to a ward. She then reportedly walked to the maternity ward where she pretended to be a nurse and told the mother of the new-born that the baby needed to be taken for medication.
