Food, glorious food. Award-winning chef, Lorna Maseko has teamed up with BBC Lifestyle to share the wonders of our local cuisine. The fab new show, Homegrown Tastes South Africa, is dedicated to showcasing the eclectic flavours of our amazing country.

Travelling across the scenic wonders of South Africa, stopping by gems like Dullstroom, Soweto, Durban, Paternoster, the Cape Winelands and Gqeberha, Lorna is joined on her journey by special celeb guests such as Jo-Anne Strauss and Idols SA winner, Khaya Mthethwa.

In each episode they meet the local chefs and producers, sampling the exceptional ingredients grown right here. Everything from urban street food; haute cuisine; decadent desserts; signature South African foods; and, of course, the finest wines to go with it.

To close each episode, Lorna celebrates the hero ingredients of the region – like amadumbe, karoo lamb, kinkelbos (dune spinach), atchar, bokkoms and so much more – by preparing her own delicious version of what the area has to offer. Look out for her take on scrumptious lamb chops with spekboom chimichurri, snoek with mebos and a tasty harissa basting!

Homegrown Tastes South Africa is part of BBC Lifestyle’s local line-up, which airs every Wednesday at 8pm on DStv channel 174. The episode will be repeated every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
