Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco has broken her silence to share a sweet Instagram message wishing her twins on their seventh birthday on 10 December.
The 43-year-old, who is currently recovering in a facility outside Monaco after months of ill health, wrote, “Happy birthday my babies. Thank you God for blessing me with such wonderful children. I’m truly blessed.”
She signed it, “Love mom” with a heart emoji.
Her message was accompanied by photos showing Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella blowing out candles on a large white birthday cake in the shape of a seven.
The former South African Olympic swimmer entered a private facility last month shortly after her return from SA where she’d spent six months on a forced medical break that saw her unable to fly home to Monaco.
On her return to the tiny principality the palace released a statement shortly before Monaco Day on 19 November saying she could not attend as she was suffering from severe fatigue.
Shortly afterwards her husband, Prince Albert, revealed his wife would be seeking treatment after feeling “overwhelmed” and “suffering from exhaustion, both emotional and physical”.
Speaking to People magazine, the 63-year-old revealed she could not “face official duties, life in general or even family life”.
Charlene underwent several medical procedures while in South Africa stemming from an ear, nose and throat infection she picked up in May when she arrived in the country to do conservation work.
During that time Albert and the kids visited her twice in KwaZulu-Natal where she was based.
In September she raised concern when it emerged she’d collapsed and had to be rushed to a hospital in Durban.
According to her spokesperson and sister-in-law, Chantell Wittstock, it was because she was “very weak and fragile” following a gruelling four-hour operation in mid-August.
